New York Fashion Week took an unexpected turn when a group of protestors crashed the Coach Spring 2024 Ready-to-Wear fashion show.

The disruption, planned by supporters of the animal rights organization PETA, aimed to draw attention to Coach's alleged cruelty towards cows and its reliance on environmentally detrimental leather products.

According to a press release by PETA, the protestors included a committed animal rights advocate.

Their intent was to condemn the brand for its treatment of cows and its contribution to environmental harm caused by leather production.

One protestor boldly walked down the runway covered in body paint, with the words 'Coach Leather Kills' painted across her chest.

Another protestor followed, dressed in a two-piece tan ensemble and carrying a sign displaying the same message in striking red and black letters.

Security quickly intervened, escorting the protestors off the runway.

The disruption was captured in an Instagram video by New York Magazine's The Cut.

In response to the protest, PETA's Executive Vice President, Tracy Reiman, emphasized, "Today's conscientious consumers know that the future of fashion lies in innovative vegan materials, not in cows' sliced-off skin."

The organization's message underscored that leather should be removed rather than incorporated into contemporary fashion collections.

She further added, "PETA is shaking up Coach’s catwalk to drive home the message that leather belongs in the annals of history, not in designers’ current collections,"
