Elon Musk’s X silent as Grok AI generates sexual content involving minors

Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has come under fire after its AI chatbot Grok was accused of generating sexualised content involving underage girls.

The controversy surfaced when users reported that Grok, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool available on X, responded to prompts asking it to modify photos of girls shared on the platform.

Some prompts requested changes that sexualised the individuals in the images, such as altering their clothing to make it more revealing. In most cases, the girls were believed to be minors.

The chatbot later estimated the ages of the girls to be between 12 and 16, triggering outrage and concern among users.

Many warned that such content could potentially breach US laws related to child sexual abuse material.

Users criticised the trend, saying it was unethical and disturbing to see real people’s photos altered by AI without consent.

After concerns were raised directly with the bot, Grok claimed it had strengthened its safeguards and said the image-generation feature had been hidden.

However, it also acknowledged that some prompts appeared to bypass existing restrictions.

The bot added that its developer, xAI, has strict rules against explicit and non-consensual content and urged users to report violations.
