Home Alone star Hillary Wolf Saba breaks silence to honour Catherine O’Hara

Hillary Wolf Saba, who played Kevin McCallister’s sister Meghan in the Home Alone films, has emerged from a quiet life away from the spotlight to pay a touching tribute to her former co-star, Catherine O’Hara.

Following the legendary actress's recent death at 71 due to a pulmonary embolism, the 49-year-old former child star shared a nostalgic cast photo to honour her "onscreen mom".

“My onscreen mom was so good to all of us kids on the sets of Home Alone 1 & 2. She was sweet and she was hilarious! RIP Catherine O’Hara,” Hillary wrote.

Having walked away from a burgeoning acting career in 1992, Hillary traded film sets for the world of competitive judo, eventually representing the USA at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.

Despite her long absence from Hollywood, she holds fond memories of the "kid-friendly" environment O'Hara helped foster, previously noting: “She was funny, great with kids, and just a wonderful person.”

The news has sent shockwaves through the original cast, with Macaulay Culkin posting his own devastating tribute: “Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more.” Director Chris Columbus echoed these sentiments, describing himself as an "obsessive fan" of the late icon.

Today, Hillary lives in Colorado with her husband and two sons, where they run a wrestling club. Though her days of running through O'Hare airport are long behind her, her respect for the woman who led the McCallister family remains as strong as ever.
