SAG Actor Awards 2026 In Memoriam honors Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton and Catherine O’Hara

The 2026 SAG Actor Awards paid an emotional tribute to stars who left a lasting mark on Hollywood during its annual In Memoriam segment.

The montage opened with a photo of James Van Der Beek, known for Dawson’s Creek.

He died on February 11 at age 48 after battling cancer. Shortly after, a clip of Eric Dane from Grey’s Anatomy played, featuring him saying, “Don’t waste one single minute.” Dane passed away on February 19 at 53, less than a year after revealing his ALS diagnosis.

Catherine O’Hara was honored with scenes from her celebrated career, including Home Alone and Schitt’s Creek.

In one clip, she reflected, “When it all comes together, and you make a good movie, it’s good forever.” O’Hara died January 30 in Los Angeles at 71.

Other legendary names remembered included Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton, Gene Hackman, Val Kilmer and Robert Redford. Reiner, director of When Harry Met Sally, was 78. Keaton, beloved for Annie Hall, died at 79.

The tribute was introduced by Sarah Paulson, who described actors as a “family of souls bonded by a challenging pursuit.” She honored the departed as “true giants” who served as teachers, inspirations and friends, concluding, “All of us have been lifted by them.”
