This year’s Dorian Awards transformed into a vampire academy
This year, the Dorian Awards transformed into a haven for vampires.
Warner Bros’ acclaimed frontrunner Sinners claimed the titles for Best Film, Director, Screenplay, and four other accolades at the 2026 Dorian Film Awards, announced this Tuesday.
Its director and writer, Ryan Coogler, also earned the Wilde Artist of the Year award for the film's cultural impact and artistic vision, according to GALECA.
On the heels of its major victories at the Actors Awards, this impactful historical horror film also secured wins in the categories of Visually Striking Film and Genre Film of the Year, which includes science fiction, fantasy, and horror, along with Best Film Music credited to composer Ludwig Göransson.
These seven awards established a new record for the Dorian Film Awards.
“In a time when grand visuals often overshadow substance, Sinners demonstrated that a blockbuster can indeed be meaningful, politically charged, and deeply human,” remarked GALECA Executive Director Diane Anderson-Minshall.
“Our members were captivated by its bold narrative, its compelling ensemble performances, and its exploration of community, perseverance, and the intricate moral questions that span often overlooked histories.”
Elsewhere, the Netflix sensation KPop Demon Hunters earned the prize for Animated Film, while Pillion, an A24 film that premiered at Cannes, received LGBTQ Film of the Year, and Netflix's The Perfect Neighbor was awarded Best Documentary.
Rose Byrne took home Film Performance of the Year for A24’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, and Amy Madigan was recognised with Supporting Film Performance of the Year for Warner Bros’ Weapons.
