Two teenage girls jump from moving car to escape Los Angeles kidnapper
Manhunt intensified for 21-year-old suspect following foiled kidnapping attempt
Authorities in Los Angeles have launched an urgent manhunt following the narrow escape of two teenage girls from a suspected kidnapper.
The victims, aged 12 and 16, reportedly jumped from a moving vehicle on Sunday evening in the North Hills neighbourhood after being abducted.
The ordeal began near North Hills Park around 5:20pm when a man in a sedan repeatedly approached the pair. Although they initially declined his offers, they eventually entered the car upon his third approach.
Once inside, the suspect allegedly locked the doors and ignored their requested destination, driving instead to a secluded cul-de-sac.
Detective Efren Gutierrez informed media outlets that the man offered the girls money, alcohol, and drugs, and unzipped his shorts while asking for sexual favours in exchange for money.
Seizing a moment to flee, one girl managed to exit while the car was stationary, whereas the other leapt from the vehicle as it was in motion. Fortunately, neither teenager sustained physical injuries during the escape.
The suspect remains at large and is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 21 years old, with black hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on both arms.
He was last seen driving an older, four-door sedan. The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the investigation with the utmost priority, seeking any information that could lead to an arrest.
Community members have been urged to remain vigilant as the search continues for the individual believed to frequent the North Hills area.
