Miley Cyrus reveals 'terrible habit' that sparked her career comeback
Miley Cyrus admits to promoting a 'Hannah Montana' project that did not exist
Miley Cyrus has revealed that a unique piece of advice from her godmother, Dolly Parton, catalysed the highly anticipated Hannah Montana comeback.
In a detailed interview with Variety, the 33-year-old singer explained how Parton encouraged her to adopt what she jokingly described as a "terrible habit" to ensure her creative visions became a reality.
The strategy involved generating public demand for a project before any official plans had even been established by the studio.
“She told me that if you want something to happen, promote it before it exists. Then no one can say no,” Cyrus added.
Following this unconventional guidance, the performer began publicly discussing a 20th anniversary celebration for the hit series well in advance of any formal agreement.
“So I just started promoting a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special that literally did not exist,” the singer confessed. This bold move eventually convinced executives of the project's immense commercial viability.
Cyrus emphasised that the show represents more than just a television production, noting that her connection with the character remains a profound part of her identity.
“It’s not just a TV show. I see daily how important Hannah is to people. When I travel, people bring me ‘Hannah’ merch,” she observed.
Despite her global superstardom, she noticed that even Disney occasionally underestimates the enduring bond fans share with the character.
Although Dolly Parton famously appeared as Aunt Dolly in the original series, her involvement in the upcoming anniversary special remains unconfirmed.
