A professional golfer breaks rank to aid a child in a sudden course emergency.

A young girl is recovering after being struck by a spectator transport vehicle during the third round of the 2026 Valspar Championship in Palm Harbour, Florida.

The incident occurred on Saturday near the 15th hole of the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course, briefly halting play for five minutes.

Witnesses reported that the child was momentarily pinned beneath the slowly-moving golf cart, prompting an immediate response from medical staff and professional golfers Brooks Koepka and Danny Walker.

Koepka, 35, was commended for his swift actions in summoning assistance and crossing the ropes to provide emotional support to the frightened child.

Commentator Smylie Kaufman described the scene as a "very scary moment," noting that the golfer stayed to comfort her until she was evaluated.

A representative for the tournament confirmed that the girl did not sustain any serious injuries and was able to leave the grounds with her family after receiving on-site medical attention.

The sporting community has praised the composure shown by the athletes during the emergency.

Koepka admitted the event was distressing, stating: “It's unfortunate. It shouldn't have happened.”

Following the scare, the golfer struggled on the subsequent hole, falling seven shots behind leader Sungjae Im.

Reflecting on the young fan's well-being, Koepka added: “From all the reports you've got, she's okay, thankfully, so that's all that matters, as long as she's okay.”

Tournament organisers expressed gratitude to the players for their assistance in ensuring a rapid medical response.
