Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Justified: City Primeval) has joined the cast of Einstein, the upcoming CBS drama series featuring Matthew Gray Gubler and Melissa Fumero.

The show will be part of CBS’ 2026-27 broadcast lineup and is currently being filmed.

In a regular role, Ellis-Taylor will portray Captain Frost, an experienced police officer. She has spent numerous hours in the field and is eagerly awaiting retirement with her partner.

Einstein centers around Lewis Einstein (Gubler), the clever yet unfocused great-grandson of Albert Einstein.

He enjoys a life as a tenured professor until his wild behaviour gets him into legal trouble, and he is tasked with aiding Teri (Fumero), a local detective, in solving her most challenging cases.

Lewis is a well-liked professor at Princeton … when he decides to attend class. Though irreverent and misled, his brilliance and renowned last name are burdensome, but utilising his talents to solve crimes might finally provide him with direction and purpose.

Andy Breckman, Randy Zisk, Michael Rauch, Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia, and Laura Beetz are the executive producers of Einstein. Gubler is also a producer. CBS Studios is the production company.

Ellis-Taylor will soon be seen in the crime thriller Lucky on Apple TV. She recently finished filming ‘Tis SO Sweet for Netflix, Lucky Strike, and Liz Here Now, directed by Sterling Macer Jr.

She was most recently featured in the film Nickel Boys, the Fox Searchlight/Hulu movie The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat, Lee Daniels’ Netflix production The Deliverance, and Titus Kaphar’s debut as a feature director, Exhibiting Forgiveness.

For her role as Oracene Price, the mother of Venus and Serena Williams, in King Richard, she secured an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

On television, Ellis-Taylor appeared in Justified: City Primeval with Timothy Olyphant for FX and Hulu, starred in Netflix’s When They See Us, and HBO’s Lovecraft Country, earning Emmy nominations for both performances. She is represented by CAA and TMT Entertainment Group.
