Samples is set to appear in court on May 25
A Tennessee woman is accused of assaulting her grandfather's wife, subsequently leaving her wounded on the floor.
Allanah Samples, 24, is being held at the Dickson County Jail following accusations of elderly abuse and severe assault.
As per an affidavit from local news source Dickson Post, authorities were called to a residence near Tennessee City, Tennessee, on March 23 after reports of an injured elderly woman on the ground.
The authorities reported that the injured woman is the wife of Samples' grandfather, who confirmed to the officers that his granddaughter assaulted his wife with a baseball bat.
The affidavit states that Samples was very apologetic when officers from the Dickson County Sheriff's Office reached the scene.
Officers noted that Samples claimed her "mommy" initially attacked her with the bat. When questioned if she had been struck, Samples denied being hit.
Deputies discovered the older woman lying on the floor, suffering from a head trauma.
She reportedly informed the deputies that Samples had been the one to attack her, striking her in the head and knees with the bat.
The bat was retrieved from the scene. Samples allegedly confessed to assaulting the woman.
The condition of the older woman has not been disclosed. The motive behind the alleged incident remains unknown.
Samples faces charges of aggravated domestic assault and elderly abuse resulting in severe injury. She remains at the Dickson County Jail, though details about her bond are unavailable.
Samples is set to appear in court on May 25.
