Google Home update enhances Gemini's command recognition

Google is releasing an updated version of its Home app aimed at making interactions with its Gemini AI assistant more seamless and efficient, according to this week's release notes.

With the update, you can specify the lighting effect you want, such as by stating “the colour of the ocean,” and Gemini will select the hue that matches your description.

You are now able to use more conversational and accurate language to instruct Gemini on controlling your devices or climate settings.

This means you can now direct Gemini to “preheat the smart oven to 350 degrees” or set exact humidity levels.

Google has also enhanced Gemini’s ability to recognise your devices, enabling distinctions such as between a “lamp” and a “light,” which allows it to fulfill requests more swiftly.

Children with supervised Google accounts now have the ability to access Gemini for Home as well.

This newest update builds on the introduction of “Live Search” for cameras earlier this month, as well as enhancements to Gemini’s contextual understanding capabilities.

Moreover, Google reported that it's updating Gemini Live, a functionality that enables an ongoing dialogue with the smart assistant.

Gemini Live’s news briefings are now “more comprehensive and dynamic” on smart displays and speakers.

You can ask Gemini questions like “What's the latest news?” or “Update me on tech news” during your conversation to get a detailed update. These updates are being rolled out now.
