Gwyneth Paltrow linked to past friction with Carolyn Bessette in new book

Gwyneth Paltrow is back in the spotlight as resurfaced claims from a recent biography suggest she once “irked” late fashion publicist Carolyn Bessette during their time in the fashion world.

The claims, detailed in Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell, have gained renewed attention following the release of the TV drama Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, which explores Bessette’s relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr.

According to the book, Bessette, who worked in publicity at Calvin Klein, was not particularly fond of Paltrow during the actress’s early rise to fame.

Odell writes that Bessette reportedly viewed Paltrow as “little miss perfect” and would make cutting remarks when the actress appeared in the press.

At the time, Paltrow was closely associated with the fashion house and quickly became a prominent figure within its inner circle.

The actress, daughter of Blythe Danner, later cemented her Hollywood status with an Academy Award-winning performance in Shakespeare in Love.

Bessette, meanwhile, built a successful career at Calvin Klein, rising through the ranks from retail to senior roles in publicity and show production.

She left the company in 1996 amid growing media attention and later married Kennedy Jr. The couple tragically died in a plane crash in 1999.

The renewed interest in Bessette’s life comes as Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette brings their high-profile romance back into public conversation.

Created by Connor Hines and based on a book by Elizabeth Beller, the series has drawn attention for its portrayal of the couple’s relationship.

Beyond the resurfaced claims, Paltrow has continued to be active in both her personal and professional life.

Recently, her daughter, Apple Martin, revealed she has been enjoying her mother’s iconic 1990s wardrobe — particularly vintage Calvin Klein pieces.

Looking ahead, Paltrow is set to executive produce and star in a Netflix adaptation of Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden, continuing her presence both on and off screen.
