Lauren Sánchez Bezos clarifies her look at Trump's inauguration

Lauren Sánchez Bezos is responding to the public's fascination with her ensemble worn at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

In a conversation with The New York Times, Sánchez Bezos, 56, addressed the negative comments about her attire at the significant event on January 20, 2025.

Sánchez Bezos expressed to the Times her great pride in the white Alexander McQueen pantsuit, viewing it as “conservative.” However, due to the unexpected indoor shift, the coat was removed, revealing her white lace bra under the jacket.

As Sánchez Bezos and her husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, sat directly behind Trump, the bra “featured prominently in nearly every image from the event,” according to the Times.

“I understand,” she told the publication. “No lace at the White House. Got it.”

Shortly after the inauguration, Sánchez Bezos shared her perspective on the controversy over her outfit on social media, “liking” a number of posts praising her fashion sense.

Sánchez Bezos also "liked" several supportive remarks, including one that said, "THAT GIRL don't let the critics get to you! The only opinion that counts is yours and Jeff’s."

Another comment she "liked" stated, "I found your inauguration outfit very stylish & sophisticated, you looked stunning."

A third shared, "Gorgeous! Every outfit to date goes beyond mere style, reflecting authenticity, courage, and confidence in who you are. More people should embrace this."

Trump’s pivotal inauguration wasn’t the first time Sánchez Bezos wore the white pantsuit. It was also her ensemble of choice for the The New York Times DealBook event in December, which she posted about on Instagram, later deleting the post.

At that time, she uploaded a selfie wearing the outfit, with the caption, "Winter white" accompanied by a white heart emoji.

The former news anchor also remarked to The New York Times in her April profile that many of the critiques about her outfits are “largely based on racial stereotypes.”

“It’s the shape of my body,” she told the media outlet. “Should someone provide me with a burlap sack and tell me to cinch it with a belt? I’m Latin. I’m Latin. I’m Latin,” she joked.

Sánchez Bezos and Bezos celebrated their marriage in a luxurious ceremony in Venice on June 27, 2025.

Her husband, 62, has four children — three boys and one girl — with his former wife MacKenzie Scott.

Conversely, she has a son, Nikko, 25, with her previous partner Tony Gonzales, and also shares son Evan, 19, and daughter Ella, 18, with her ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.
