Shelby Dawn Lashombe faces sentencing after pleading guilty to improper conduct charges

Former teacher admits sex crimes involving two teenagers

A former Texas secondary school teacher and coach has formally pleaded guilty to maintaining improper relationships with two teenagers.

Shelby Dawn Lashombe, 25, previously employed at Valley Mills High School, entered a plea for two counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.

The McLennan County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that, in exchange for this admission, two counts of sexual assault against a child were dismissed.

The case emerged on 24 August 2025, when the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office received reports that Lashombe was seen kissing a 16-year-old boy at a residence in Elm Mott.

According to arrest warrant affidavits cited by KWTX, KKTV, and WTVM, the teenager "confirmed he and Shelby have had sexual intercourse, and it has happened more than once."

Lashombe reportedly admitted to a six-month relationship with the boy, aware he was underage. She subsequently confessed to sexual contact with a second boy under the age of 17. Although the victims did not attend her specific school, the legal breach remains severe.

Prosecutors have recommended deferred probation and a $1,000 fine, a significant reduction from the 40-year prison term she initially faced.

Probation officers have now commenced a pre-sentence investigation to assist the judge in determining whether to accept this plea arrangement.

Lashombe, who resigned her position following her arrest in September 2025, is scheduled for sentencing on 26 June.

This conclusion follows a brief but controversial career in education, with no future teaching projects currently permitted under the terms of the investigation.
