Video captures Oklahoma principal tackling gunman at school
Moore sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was airlifted to a nearby medical facility
Recently released surveillance footage captures footage of an Oklahoma high school principal apprehending a gunman in the school's entryway.
Mere moments after the suspect discharged a firearm at Pauls Valley High School last week, principal Kirk Moore is observed sprinting into the corridor.
Moore forces the gunman down onto a bench and restrains him until another staff member helps remove the gun from the scene.
"We've got a community of about 6,200 residents. Wonderful kids, great town. You certainly don't anticipate such incidents occurring here," shared Pauls Valley Police Chief Don May.

Moore, who has been an educator for 35 years, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was airlifted to a nearby medical facility. Fortunately, no one else was harmed during the incident.
"He just went to work like anyone else and who would have expected this to occur? So, I just want to express my gratitude," commented Lindel Fields, the superintendent of public instruction in Oklahoma.
In an official statement, Moore attributed his ability to control the situation to his "instincts and training, as well as divine intervention." He expressed his eagerness to return to work soon to continue his "dedication to educating the future leaders of Oklahoma."
Legal records name the suspect as Victor Lee Hawkins. Authorities indicated that the 20-year-old was a former student of Pauls Valley High School.
Hawkins is charged with multiple offenses, including shooting with intent to kill. He has entered a plea of not guilty and is currently held on a $1 million bond.
