Microsoft Teams fixes unintentional hand-raising issue
Microsoft is making changes to its virtual meeting platform 'Microsoft Teams'
Microsoft is making changes to its virtual meeting platform, Microsoft Teams, aimed at improving usability and reducing common user errors during calls.
One of the most noticeable updates involves the repositioning of the “Raise Hand” feature.
Previously located on the main toolbar, the option will now be moved under the “Reactions” menu.
According to Microsoft, this adjustment is intended to minimise accidental clicks — a frequent issue for users who often confuse the two buttons during meetings.
By grouping similar interaction tools together, the company hopes to create a more intuitive experience and reduce unintended interruptions.
The update, listed on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, is expected to roll out in June. It reflects Microsoft’s broader effort to refine Teams’ interface based on user behavior and feedback.
In addition to relocating the raise hand feature, Microsoft is also introducing new customisation options for the meeting toolbar.
Users will be able to pin, unpin, and rearrange controls according to their preferences, allowing for a more personalised setup.
This flexibility is designed to help users access frequently used features more quickly while decluttering the interface.
Another key change is the repositioning of the “Leave” button. It will now be placed separately on the far right side of the toolbar, making it easier to find and reducing the chances of accidentally exiting a meeting.
While Microsoft has not yet released images of the redesigned layout, the company says the update is being engineered to be faster and more user-friendly, even if it may take some time for users to adjust to the new interface.
