Identifying the symptoms

Profuse sweating not only washes out makeup but can also be a sign of underlying conditions like hyperhidrosis, which may be triggered by heat, stress, or spicy foods. To ensure makeup remains intact, the dermatologist identified several proactive techniques:

• Use ice rollers before application to temporarily shrink sweat glands and reduce sebum.
• Apply water-based sunscreens to provide a primer-like effect without an oily texture.
• Opt for mattifying foundations and set them with translucent powder.
• Utilise setting sprays to lock in products and reduce the impact of moisture.
• Carry blotting papers to absorb excess sweat without disturbing the underlying layers.

The restorative pathway

The dermatologist emphasised that post-sweat maintenance is just as crucial as the initial application. Blotting papers allow for quick touch-ups that maintain a fresh appearance throughout the day.

However, for those experiencing extreme perspiration, seeking professional medical advice is recommended. While treatments like oxybutynin exist, they must be used only under strict medical supervision.
