Tom Hardy sets major career break post-'MobLand' crime drama

Tom Hardy is reportedly taking a significant pause from work after the crime drama MobLand left him extremely drained.

The Peaky Blinders actor, who was rumored to have had issues with Dame Helen Mirren during the filming of the Paramount + series, is said to be going on a career "hiatus," according to MailOnline.

The report suggests the British actor, 48, plans to rest after finishing the filming of the show’s second season.

In the gritty drama, he portrays Harry Da Souza, a key player involved in an intense war between families.

Sources have now revealed he is keen "to take a break" and may be on a "sabbatical" that could last several years.

In the past, the father of three, who has appeared in movies such as the Venom franchise, Havoc, and The Dark Knight Rises, talked about how the demands of his physical roles have taken a toll on his body.

He shared with Esquire UK: "I've undergone two knee surgeries now, and my back has a herniated disc.

"I also suffer from sciatica. What’s the name of that condition? Plantar fasciitis?

"Where did it originate, and why is it happening? I've also strained a tendon in my hip.

"Everything is deteriorating now, and improvement seems unlikely."

The Sun has reached out to Tom’s representatives for comments.

Previously, insiders on the MobLand show suggested his Oscar-winning co-star Helen was annoyed by Tom's behavior on set, including tardiness and playing games on his phone.

One source mentioned the actor can "get upset" and "acts like he’s the top boss," adding to The Mail on Sunday: "Tom seems to be provoking her."

Insiders said Dame Helen, 80, who plays the stern mob matriarch Maeve Harrigan, was "becoming more and more frustrated" with Tom.

However, following these reports, Dame Helen denied any tension between them.

Earlier this year, the show was disrupted by a massive explosion requiring police and fire crews.

Tom’s character was depicted wielding a shotgun amidst the flames.

Local police and fire teams stood by as the dramatic scene unfolded at a riverside warehouse in Newham.

The series also stars the prominent actors Dame Helen and Pierce Brosnan alongside Tom.

Pierce plays the character of Irishman Conrad Hannigan, married to Maeve, portrayed by Helen.

They lead a criminal organisation in London, with Tom’s character serving as a "fixer" to resolve the family’s conflicts and crimes.
