Kaitlin Olson looked back on her early Hollywood break with a mix of humor and disbelief, describing her brief appearance in the 2000 cult hit Coyote Ugly as “chaotic” and overwhelming but ultimately unforgettable.

Speaking in a recent interview with People, Olson recalled that the role marked her first successful audition, even though she appeared in the film for only a fleeting moment and her character was never given a name.

“That was, I think, the first audition that I got that I booked the part. I didn’t even have a name,” she said. “It was absolutely terrifying because I had never done anything before.”

The film, which starred Piper Perabo, Maria Bello, and Adam Garcia, followed a group of women working at a high-energy New York bar, where Olson appeared in a fast-paced bidding scene involving Garcia’s character.

Olson admitted she felt intimidated stepping onto a set filled with experienced actors, but instead of holding back, she leaned into the energy of the moment.

“It was terrifying. It was so scary. It was all these big actors who knew what they were doing, and then just me being a loud, screaming buffoon,” she said. “But it worked out.”

She described the shoot as chaotic, with overlapping dialogue and improvised reactions that gave the scene its unpredictable energy.

Despite her limited screen time, Olson managed to leave a memorable impression, even improvising a line during the scene.

“That’s it! You want to come home with Mama?” she recalled shouting during filming.

Looking back, she said the experience set the tone for the kind of energetic, comedic roles she would later become known for.

“It was very chaotic, and we were all screaming over the top of each other,” she added. “But there’s nothing I enjoy doing more.”
