Debbie Harry introduces Olivia Rodrigo’s Lively ‘Drop Dead’ performance on SNL

If there were any hesitations about Olivia Rodrigo's status in pop-rock, they were dispelled tonight with an endorsement from Blondie's iconic frontwoman Debbie Harry, who made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live to introduce her.

Taking on dual roles for the first time, Rodrigo graced the Studio 8H stage for a third time, unveiling her latest single “drop dead.”

The singer-songwriter, with three Grammys to her name, launched the song and its music video — artfully directed by Petra Collins at the Louvre — two weeks back.

Switching effortlessly from host to musical act, she wore a light green and pink gown, giving an electrifying performance of the lively track.

Her forthcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, is set to release on June 12.

The “Heart of Glass” icon is just the newest big-name musician to make a cameo introduction.

Paul Simon made a brief stage appearance with Harry Styles while he filled dual roles back in March.

And that wasn't the only unexpected appearance tonight. Aziz Ansari dropped by 30 Rock to mock FBI director Kash Patel during tonight’s Cold Open.

Blondie, a trailblazer in the new wave movement since its debut in 1974, was embraced by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and has sold over 40 million albums to date.

Last year, the band announced a new album, High Noon, set for a spring 2026 release.

Rodrigo has previously rocked the late-night show as a musical guest in 2021 (opposite host Keegan-Michael Key) and 2023 (with host Adam Driver).
