Kate Middleton dazzles in 80s-style dress from Princess Diana's wardrobe

The Princess of Wales is a beacon of contemporary fashion, yet she occasionally channels a nostalgic vibe.

In 2022, Kate, who has now reached 44 years of age, donned an ensemble with an undeniable 1980s influence (in the finest possible way, we might say) during a departure event held at Lynden Pindling International Airport.

This was part of her and Prince William's Platinum Jubilee journey across the Caribbean, representing Queen Elizabeth.

The Princess opted for a dress in lemon and white by Alessandra Rich, showcasing a ruffled scoop neckline complemented by striking puff sleeves and a belted peplum waist.

The skirt embraced a tailored pencil cut, highlighted by a split at the front with buttons progressing down the center.

This unexpectedly opulent dress was also adorned with a sizeable bow on the bodice and an abstract design.

The royal teamed the dress with classic 1980s footwear — bright white stilettos, but added a modern flair with her flowing ponytail.

The ensemble was reminiscent of styles worn by Kate's late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, in the 1980s, which commonly included peplum shapes and puffed sleeves.

In 1983, Diana sported a comparable yellow gown featuring dramatic sleeves at the Government House Ball in New Zealand during her and King Charles' royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Additionally, the late royal wore a white outfit with a silhouette akin to Kate's yellow attire while at a charity event benefiting Birthright at the London Palladium in June 1987.

Later this month, Kate will embark on her first official international visit since October 2023, when she ventured to Marseille to cheer for the England rugby team as the RFU patron.

Royal enthusiasts are highly anticipating her travel wardrobe, and if it aligns with her past overseas fashion choices, it promises to be nothing less than exceptional.

A standout moment from her international wardrobe was during the same Caribbean visit when she attended a dinner hosted by the Governor General of Jamaica at King's House in Kingston.

Draped in emerald, Kate resembled a storybook princess in a tulle ballgown by Jenny Packham that featured a strapless ruffle neckline, perfectly complemented with a stunning braided bun hairstyle.
