Police provide a major update on the human remains found near Nancy Guthrie’s home
Officials clarify if a recent discovery is linked to the missing mother's case
The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues to be a high-priority investigation, but a recent discovery has led to unexpected answers. After human remains were found approximately seven miles from Nancy’s home on May 7th, the Tucson Police Department issued a formal statement to clarify the situation. Authorities have determined that the bone discovered is actually part of a "prehistoric anthropological investigation" and is not criminal in nature, meaning it is unrelated to Nancy’s disappearance.
Nancy was first reported missing on February 1st, and investigators believe she was taken from her home after doorbell footage captured a masked individual approaching the residence. The ongoing case has deeply affected her children, including Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has made several emotional pleas for her mother’s safe return. As the family remains in "agony," police continue to follow every lead to bring Nancy home and find the person responsible for her abduction.
