Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie attend royal event while Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor snubbed
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been invited to a Royal Family wedding soon to take place
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been invited to a Royal Family wedding soon to take place.
Peter Phillips is preparing to wed NHS nurse Harriet Sperling on Saturday (June 6), with the ceremony scheduled at All Saints' Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire.
The 48-year-old grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II will tie the knot with his 45-year-old bride in the presence of many senior members of the Royal Family.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to attend their nephew's wedding, along with Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who are 37 and 36, have received invitations to their cousin's wedding event next month.
Beatrice is set to attend, while Eugenie, who is in her second trimester, hopes to be there.
However, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson will not be attending.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s invitation indicates King Charles’s desire to keep his nieces closely connected to the family.
An insider shared with The Sun: "The Royal Family is in need of some uplifting news, and nothing brings people together like a grand church wedding."
The insider further mentioned that the King "has always wanted them to remain integrated within the family" and "has made it clear that they are welcome at family gatherings."
A friend of Peter Phillips and Ms Sterling expressed to Hello: "Peter and Harriet's wedding is a close-knit affair with their best friends and close family in the Cotswolds. It’s a region that's very dear to both of them."
The source also noted: "It probably wasn't appropriate to invite (Andrew and Sarah Ferguson). This day is special for Peter and Harriet, and their presence might overshadow it."
Prince Harry has not been invited, and the friend explained: "Peter and Harry haven't spoken in several years and have just drifted apart, so he wasn't included."
This distance signifies a significant change in the relationship between the cousins, given their previous participation in each other's family gatherings.
Peter Phillips was there when Harry wed Meghan Markle, while Harry attended Peter’s sister Zara's wedding to Mike Tindall.
The full guest list has not been disclosed, but family members expected to be present include Peter Phillips's divorced parents, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, as well as his stepfather, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
Phillips shares two daughters from his former 13-year marriage to Autumn Phillips: Savannah, who is 14, and Isla, who is 13. He is also an uncle to Zara and Mike's three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas.
Ms Sperling, employed as an NHS paediatric nurse, has a teenage daughter named Georgia from a past relationship.
Peter Phillips proposed to Ms Sperling last summer, and the engagement announcement conveyed that both families were "thrilled with the delightful news."
