Tom Hardy reportedly axed from ‘MobLand’ after alleged on-set clashes

Tom Hardy has reportedly been dropped from the planned third season of the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand following alleged clashes with producers during the show’s second season production.

The 48-year-old actor, who plays fixer Harry Da Souza in the series, will not return if the third installment moves forward, according to entertainment journalist Matthew Belloni in his Puck newsletter.

Belloni claimed that Paramount opted not to renew Hardy’s involvement after tensions with executive producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during filming.

“I’m told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three after his clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser… during the recent production of season two,” Belloni wrote.

He further alleged that Hardy was frequently late to set, pushed to alter scripts and dialogue, and expressed frustration that the series was shifting from a character-driven vehicle into a broader ensemble focus featuring co-stars such as Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

In MobLand, Hardy’s character Harry works closely with the powerful Harrigan crime family led by Conrad Harrigan (Brosnan) and Maeve Harrigan (Mirren).

The reported departure comes amid ongoing speculation about Hardy’s workload and physical condition.

Earlier reports suggested the actor may be considering a career break following the completion of season two.

In recent interviews, Hardy has spoken candidly about the toll of action-heavy roles, revealing multiple injuries, including knee surgeries, a herniated disc, sciatica, and other long-term physical issues.

The alleged behind-the-scenes friction also revives past controversies surrounding the actor’s working relationships.

During the 2015 production of Mad Max: Fury Road, reports surfaced of tension between Hardy and co-star Charlize Theron, with claims of on-set conflict under high production pressure.

Hardy later addressed those accounts in a 2022 interview, acknowledging the difficulties, saying he was “in over [his] head” and that Theron needed a more experienced partner during filming.
