Three teen girls injured after stolen car rolls into Brisbane family home
Authorities are investigating after a stolen vehicle with three teenage girls inside lost control and crashed
Three teenage girls were injured after a stolen car they were travelling in rolled multiple times and crashed into a family home in Brisbane, Australia, early Monday morning, leaving behind significant structural damage and prompting an ongoing police investigation.
According to a Queensland Police Service spokesperson, the red Hyundai Accent crashed into a two-storey house at around 1:15 a.m. local time on June 8 after allegedly rolling “several times” before striking the property.
Authorities said the vehicle had been reported stolen from another address two days earlier.
Police confirmed that three teenage girls were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
A 14-year-old girl from Logan Central, who was a rear passenger, sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
The alleged driver, a 14-year-old girl from Waterford West, and a second passenger, a 15-year-old from Waterford, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.
A 49-year-old man inside the home suffered minor cuts to his feet from broken glass while helping the injured teens.
He did not require hospitalisation, though the house sustained what police described as “significant structural damage.”
Local residents rushed to the scene to assist the girls in the aftermath of the crash.
Witnesses told Australian media outlets that the vehicle appeared to have been travelling at high speed before losing control and ploughing through a neighbouring yard and into the home.
One witness, speaking to 9News, described hearing screams and discovering one of the girls unconscious inside the damaged vehicle.
Another said a passenger was seen praying for her friend’s survival before emergency services arrived.
Despite the severity of the crash, witnesses said the teenagers initially resisted calls for emergency assistance, allegedly urging bystanders not to contact paramedics.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and no charges have yet been laid.
