Meghan Markle reveals Princess Lilibet as a devoted Beyoncé fan at five
Meghan Markle's Instagram post showed Lilibet, five, and Archie, seven, with Prince Harry on Tuesday
It appears that five-year-old Princess Lilibet is already a devoted Beyoncé admirer. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, posted a new photograph of her and Prince Harry's youngest child on Instagram on Tuesday, in which the little girl is seen in a white T-shirt featuring an illustration of Beyoncé with the words "B is for Beyonce." In the artwork, Beyoncé is depicted wearing large hoop earrings inscribed with "Queen Bey."
The T-shirt behind the photo
The garment is available through the National Women's History Museum and is priced at $48. According to its product description, the portrait of Beyoncé was created by a ten-year-old girl named Pearl, and the T-shirt itself was designed by a mother-and-daughter team based in the United States.
Family moments on Instagram
Markle's Tuesday post included a further selection of intimate family snapshots, among them a picture of Harry alongside their seven-year-old son, Archie, the pair seen playing together with an oversized football.
"Springing into summer," she wrote as the caption accompanying the collection of photographs.
A long-standing friendship with Beyoncé
Both Markle and Beyoncé are 44 years old, and the two women have made no secret of their mutual admiration over the years. The Grammy-winning artist publicly voiced her support for Markle following the Duchess's landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, posting a tribute on her website beside a photograph taken the first time the two women met — an occasion that also included Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, and Prince Harry — at the London premiere of The Lion King during the summer of 2019.
"Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership," Beyoncé wrote on her website on that occasion.
The text that left Markle star-struck
Markle also spoke about a personal message she received from Beyoncé in the wake of the much-discussed CBS interview, revisiting the moment during the couple's 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. A visibly moved Markle told Harry that the "Single Ladies" singer had been in touch simply to check in, before revealing the exact words Beyoncé had sent her.
"She said she wants me to feel safe and protected. She admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed," Markle said. She went on to add: "I still can't believe she knows who I am."
Cowboy Carter tour and Lilibet's fifth birthday
The couple's admiration for Beyoncé extended beyond social media when, in May 2025, Markle and Harry attended one of the Cowboy Carter tour dates at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Fellow concert-goers spotted the pair dancing along to the artist's hits, and Harry fully embraced the theme by wearing a cowboy hat.
Markle later posted about the outing on Instagram, writing: "Thank you beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love."
Separately, Markle marked Lilibet's fifth birthday on Thursday, sharing two previously unseen photographs of the young princess in her garden as part of a heartfelt birthday tribute posted to Instagram. "Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili," she wrote alongside the images.
