Unmarked graves uncovered in the desert following an anonymous tip about Nancy Guthrie

An anonymous tip leads a volunteer group to unearth bodies while searching for Nancy Guthrie

Five months after Nancy Guthrie vanished, an anonymous tip has guided a volunteer search group to a remote desert location near the Nogales border in Mexico. The group, Buscando Corazones, has uncovered 25 unmarked graves in the secluded area. While authorities have not yet confirmed if Guthrie's remains are among those found, the discovery has intensified the ongoing investigation. Forensic anthropologist Dr. Daniel Wescott explains that search teams look for disturbed soil, uneven ground, and heat signatures from active decomposition, often utilizing drones, cadaver dogs, and pedestrian searches.

The physical condition of remains in a desert environment depends heavily on burial depth and insect activity, ranging from mummification to complete skeletonization over five months. Investigators are working alongside private sector partners to gather surveillance footage and other potential leads. The FBI and the Guthrie family continue to offer a large reward, hoping public incentives will help solve the case.
