Menlo College student faces prosecution after alleged child assault

Menlo College student Andres Manuel Aguilar faced severe criminal charges after authorities accused him of raping a 12-year-old girl inside his campus dormitory room on May 5. The 19-year-old individual faced two separate counts of sexual assault of a juvenile and one count of providing marijuana to a juvenile following the incident in California.

People reported that San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe detailed the specific allegations against the suspect. Law enforcement officials subsequently took Aguilar into custody at his university residence on May 12 after conducting a thorough forensic investigation and specialised interviews with the young victim.

The prosecution alleged that Aguilar initially approached the child at a bus stop on May 4 to initiate a conversation. Although the victim told the suspect she was 17 years old, investigators alleged that the student knew she was not that old. The pair exchanged text messages and arranged to meet the following day at a bus stop located directly across from the educational institution.

The victim sneaked out from her home to meet the Menlo College student before the pair walked to a local store to obtain beer and rum. Aguilar then allegedly brought the child back to his private dorm room, where the sexual assault occurred. Afterwards, the suspect reportedly became worried about a potential pregnancy and utilised the DoorDash delivery application to purchase Plan B emergency contraception.

Aguilar administered the preventative medicine to the child before telling her she could return to her home. The victim immediately informed her mother about the incident upon her arrival, prompting an emergency trip to Stanford Hospital, where medical personnel alerted local police departments.

A preliminary court hearing scheduled for Wednesday was officially continued because investigators are looking into a potential second victim. Wagstaffe confirmed that the police are actively conducting an ongoing investigation into the matter, though no formal secondary charges have been filed. Speaking to KRON 4, the victim’s mother publicly encouraged any other individuals who experienced negative interactions with the suspect to come forward immediately.
