OnePlus reportedly planning exit from US and European markets

OnePlus and its parent company, Oppo, plan to announce in the coming days that the OnePlus brand will be leaving the United States and European markets. The upcoming announcement will outline fundamental changes to the strategy of the two technology companies, marking the end of their operations in these key Western regions.

German publication WinFuture reported that the strategic shift will result in a total withdrawal from these major markets. While the company previously denied persistent rumours of a retail shutdown, the impending announcement follows months of speculation regarding the long-term viability of OnePlus in the West. Under the new plans, the remaining inventory of OnePlus devices in the US and Europe will be sold off and not replenished. However, the company will reportedly continue providing customer software updates and hardware support for existing devices until the end of their service lifecycles.

The decision concludes a period of uncertainty for the smartphone brand. In January, Android Headlines reported that OnePlus was being dismantled. At the time, OnePlus issued a statement denying the claims, asserting that OnePlus North America continued to operate with a full guarantee of software updates, after-sales support, and user rights commitments.

Subsequent developments indicated deeper regional challenges for the brand. In March, 9to5Google reported that the smartphone maker might cease operations across its global markets. Following this, Android Authority detailed the departure of top OnePlus executives and staff members within the United Kingdom and Europe.

A company spokesperson responded to those departures by stating that OnePlus Europe was evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy. While OnePlus has previously attempted to downplay the restructuring as routine operational changes, the forthcoming announcement is expected to confirm the definitive end of its product availability in both Europe and the US.
