Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will make its digital home release debut on July 21, 2026, offering fans exclusive behind-the-scenes bonus content. The science-fiction feature film will become available for digital purchase on major platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango, following its theatrical run.
People reported that the digital launch will precede physical home video releases, with 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats scheduled to arrive on August 25, 2026. Both the physical discs and digital editions will feature behind-the-scenes featurettes, including a detailed look at the physical creation of the character Grogu. The bonus materials reveal that the beloved character was not generated entirely through computer-generated imagery (CGI) but was heavily realised by a practical visual effects crew.
Producer David Filoni explained that the production team sought to push the physical limitations of the Grogu puppet model for the cinematic release. He praised the character's presence on set, referring to the puppet as a great little actor. Lead actor Pedro Pascal, who portrays the bounty hunter Din Djarin, also praised the practical effects team. Pascal stated that Grogu and the Legacy effects crew acted as the most organic scene partners any performer could ask for.
Co-star Sigourney Weaver, who plays Colonel Ward, echoed this enthusiasm and admitted she became completely enamoured with the physical puppet. Weaver confessed that she fell in love with Grogu's face during filming, even though puppeteers and crew members surrounded the model on set. She added that no one can avoid falling in love with his expressions.
