'Glee' alum Becca Tobin welcomes daughter Meyer June after early arrival
Becca Tobin has welcomed her second child, daughter Meyer June Martin, with husband Zach Martin
Becca Tobin hasannounced the arrival of her second child, daughter Meyer June Martin, with husband Zach Martin on Thursday, July 23, during an episode of The LadyGang podcast recorded from the hospital.
Tobin revealed that their baby girl arrived early on July 19 after their surrogate, Katie, was admitted to the hospital due to preeclampsia, a pregnancy complication.
The baby was originally expected to arrive on August 26 but was born about five and a half weeks ahead of schedule.
“She came early,” Tobin shared during the episode with co-hosts Keltie Knight and Jac Vanek, explaining that Meyer is currently spending time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) but is doing well.
The actress said their daughter is expected to remain in the NICU for two to six weeks as she continues to grow and develop.
Tobin also described the emotional experience of being involved in the delivery, revealing that she helped deliver her daughter alongside the medical team.
“The doctor or midwife looks at me, and she goes, ‘Do you want to deliver your baby?’ And I was like, ‘Um, yes,’” Tobin recalled.
“So she then hands me her gloves. I put on her gloves, I stand at the bottom, and she’s like, ‘There’s her head,’ and I put my hand on the head.”
She added that the delivery happened quickly, with Meyer arriving as she and the midwife helped bring her into the world.
Tobin revealed that the baby’s umbilical cord had been wrapped around her twice, but Meyer was “fine.” She was born at 7:24 a.m. weighing 5 pounds, 9 ounces and currently uses a feeding tube, which Tobin explained is common for premature babies.
“Swallowing is like one of the last skills that comes and it’s like one of the most exhausting things,” she said.
The couple also shared the meaning behind their daughter’s name. Tobin explained that they wanted to choose a family name, with June honouring her grandmother and Meyer coming from her great-grandfather’s name.
“Meyer” means “bringer of light” in Hebrew, Tobin shared.
Meyer joins Tobin and Martin’s 4-year-old son, Rutherford “Ford” Thomas Martin, whom they welcomed via surrogate in February 2022.
Tobin has previously spoken openly about her fertility journey, revealing that she experienced two miscarriages before deciding to pursue in vitro fertilization.
She announced she was expecting her second child in April 2026.
