Lily-Rose Depp on comparison of her character in 'The Idol' with Britney Spears

Lily-Rose Depp shut down the claims that her character in the new drama The Idol is based on Britney Spears.

In an interview with Extra, the actor-model clarified that her character is not inspired by the controversial life of theOops!...I Did It Again singer.

“No, it's not based on anyone in particular… We’re definitely not trying to tell anyone else's story, but definitely create one of our own,” the 24-year-old said.

Johnny Depp’s daughter confirmed: “This is a fictional character and fictional story.”

“There were a lot of different people that I was inspired by for this role. Some that were pop stars, some that were not,” Lily-Rose Deep said.

She continued: “I wanted Jocelyn to feel simultaneously like a modern-day pop queen of today but also like somebody that kind of existed in her own world and in her own kind of time so I drew a lot of inspiration from actresses like.

"Gene Tierney and Sharon Stone and women like that that I find really inspiring,” the Wolf actress added.

The Idol will be released on HBO on June 4, 2023. Apart from Lily-Rose Depp, the other star-studded cast of the series includes Jennie Kim, The Weeknd, Troye Sivan, Suzanna Son, Rachel Sennott, Den Levyand, and Sophie Mudd.
