Netflix unveils trailer for 'Depp v. Heard' docuseries on Johnny Depp, Amber Heard defamation trial
Netflix docuseries 'Depp v. Heard' reexamining the defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will release on August 16, 2023

Netflix is set to release a three-part docuseries titled Depp v. Heard on August 16, 2023, reexamining the infamous defamation trial involving actor Johnny Depp and actress Amber Heard.
The trial, which became the world's first to be dubbed trial by TikTok, captured global attention as it unfolded.
The documentary, directed by Emma Cooper, aims to present a neutral overview of the trial and showcase both Depp and Heard's testimonies side-by-side.
It raises thought-provoking questions about truth and its role in modern society, given the intense media scrutiny surrounding the case.
In the original trial held in Virginia, a seven-person jury sided mostly with Johnny Depp, awarding him 10.35 million dollars in damages for the defamation he faced due to an op-ed penned by Amber Heard in 2018.
Meanwhile, Heard won one of her three defamation counterclaims and received $2 million in damages.
Since the trial's conclusion, both parties had appealed the verdict but later reached a settlement, dropping their appeals.
As part of the settlement, Heard agreed to pay Depp 1 million dollars, which he pledged to donate to charity.
