Dwayne Johnson and Zendaya steal hearts in viral 'Moana' live-action fan trailer
'Dune: Part Two,' starring Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet, will hit theatres on November 3, 2023
Disney made an exciting announcement earlier this year that they would be bringing the most anticipated film, Moana, to a live-action adaptation.
The creative team at Cinematic Pro Studio has taken the opportunity to playfully imagine their own version of the live-action trailer, envisioning the Hollywood megastar Zendaya as Moana.
While Dwayne Johnson is set to replay his role as Maui, it was revealed that Auliʻi Cravalho won't be returning as the titular character.
The viral fan trailer has generated quite a buzz, getting over 130k views within four days.
The movie's direction was entrusted to Thomas Kail, known for his work on Hamilton, but due to the ongoing SAG strike, the casting decision for Moana might take some time.
'Moana' live-action trailer
"Here's our concept trailer for 'Moana Live Action,' an exhilarating cinematic journey that brings Zendaya's Moana and Dwayne Johnson's Maui to life in a captivating new adaptation," the video's caption read.
"Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing world of Oceania as we follow Moana, a determined and courageous young woman, on a quest to save her people and fulfill her destiny."
"The trailer unveils breathtaking visuals of lush tropical islands, enchanting oceanic vistas, and the vibrant culture of the Pacific Islands," it continues.
"Experience the heartwarming bond between Moana and Maui as they embark on a thrilling adventure filled with mythical creatures, magical encounters, and self-discovery."
The caption further read, "With an enthralling musical score, dazzling visual effects, and glimpses of the magnetic chemistry between Zendaya and Dwayne Johnson, our concept trailer offers a glimpse of the reimagined and empowering tale that awaits."
Auliʻi Cravalho clears air on live-action ‘Moana’
The announcement of the live-action Moana sparked curiosity among Disney fans, who eagerly questioned whether Auliʻi Cravalho, the original voice of the titular, would return for the live-action adaptation.
The Crush actress addressed these speculations on her Instagram, confirming that she will not be portraying Moana in the live-action version.
"Aloha Mai Kakou, As I'm sure you've heard by now, live-action Moana is in the works and you all have been waiting very patiently for updates " Cravalho began.
"So, I've written a few things down. When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career. In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising the role," she continued.
"I believe it is absolutely vital [that] the cast accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell. So, as an executive producer of the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana's courageous spirit, undeniable wit, and emotional strength."
The 22-year-old concluded, "I'm truly honored to pass this baton to the next young woman of Pacific Island descent to honor our incredible Pacific people's cultures and communities that helped inspire her story and I look forward to all the beautiful Pacific representation to come."
Now coming back to Zendaya, her much anticipated upcoming movie Dune: Part Two starring co-star Timothée Chalamet will release on November 3, 2023.
