Taylor Swift delighted  her fans, popularly known as the  Swifties, by announcing the re-release of her hit 2014 music  album  1989 at a burning concert of her Eras tour in SoFi stadium on Wednesday.

The Grammy award  winner has initiated the re-recording of her previous catalog in 2021 and since, she has been ruling the music world.

Taylor Swift music ownership:

Taylor Swift initiated the process of re-recording her hit albums in 2019 when her master recordings were sold without her consent by Big Machine Records to Scooter Braun, who later sold them to a private equity firm.

Back in 2005, the Bad Blood hitmaker signed a record deal that granted ownership of her master recordings to the Big Machine Records her former record label.

The re-recording allowed the Blank Space crooner to create new versions of her original songs, giving her the ownership and control over these newly recorded tracks.

Back in 2020, Taylor said in a statement, “I have recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling.”

In 2018, when the Shake It Off singer switched over to Republic Records, she negotiated to own the master rights to all the music she will create and this  enabled her to connect with her fans by releasing updated versions of her songs, while also asserting her artistic independence and ensuring that her legacy in the music industry is defined on her terms.

Taylor's re-recorded albums continued her impressive chart-topping history, as Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) became her 12th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.

Taylor Swift and the re-recorded albums:

Taylor Swift has re-recorded her three albums into ‘Taylor's Version’ so far and one is in the pipeline for release.

In 2021 she re-released her album Fearless  and then in the same year, she debuted Red (Taylor's Version).

The Speak Now (Taylor's Version) is the third re-recorded album by the Mean singer, released on July 7, 2023.

Now, the 33-year-old is ready to re-release   1989 after nine years of its original release on October 27, the same date of original album release.

Moreover, the Anti-Hero singer's debut album, Taylor Swift (2006) and Reputation (2017) await the re-recorded releases

Taylor Swift is currently touring on her hit Eras Tour. The successful global leg of concerts started on March 17, 2023, and will end on Aug 17, 2024.
