Taylor Swift lookalike Ashley Leechin receives backlash after L.A. mall prank

Taylor Swift is definitely creating a buzz wherever she is touching the ground. However, the iconic singer’s fans were left furious after her lookalike Ashley Leechin pulled a prank in a mall in Los Angeles.

According to the reports, Ashely, who bears uncanny resemblance to the Blank Space singer, was escorted out a shop in L.A. after pretending to be the singer.

Upon realising that she is a ‘Taylor Swift’ doppelganger, fans expressed their anger and slammed her online. Videos of 'It's just Ashley' getting escorted out of a mall went viral on Taylor Swift fan pages over the weekend.

Ashley later shared a clarification on Instagram. The internet influencer, who is famous on TikTok for being a Taylor Swift lookalike, was dressed in a white top, blue jeans, carried a red bag and wore a red cap and Taylor's trademark red lipstick in the video.

Earlier on Saturday, Ashley Leechin also visited Disney World, pretending to be Taylor, where the Anti-Hero singer’s fans gathered for pictures and autographs.

Ashley Leechin addressed her act, saying that it was not ‘malicious’ and celebrities use decoy's all the time.

“Please don't expect me to turn off my comments, stop making content or disappear for that matter. It is called freedom of speech for a reason and you have as much air as you want to say what you need to say. The videos surfacing are taken way out of context & I just want to say to those who have messaged me and have said very kind things, I see you and I thank you. I just hope those who are angry over speculation do not dwell on this and can eventually enjoy their day,” she wrote.

Taylor Swift recently concluded the first US leg of her billion dollars Eras Tour. She also treated fans with a surprise announcement of the release date of her re-recorded album 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The album will release in October.

Taylor Swift was recently spotted at her friend Jack Antonoff's wedding in New Jersey, where hundreds of her fans flocked the venue, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite star.
