Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in Netflix thriller film ‘Jaane Jaan’ releasing on September 21, 2023
Kareena Kapoor has opened up about the struggles and stereotypes she faced after portraying the iconic characters “Poo” in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and “Geet” in Jab We Met.
On Tuesday, at the trailer launch of Jaane Jaan, Kareena discussed her filmography and looked back at all the characters she has played.
As reported by PTI, she revealed, "As an actor, you want to try and do something different every time. For me, it is difficult because I’ve been known for playing Poo and Geet.”
During the press interaction the renowned star shared the struggles she has faced due to “people’s minds.”
"This thing has been fixed in people’s minds. So, that has been a conscious effort that now I want to do different things," the Indian star exclaimed.
The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actress said, "They don’t think of the films that I’ve done in the past such as Dev, Chameli, and others. But I’m going to keep trying to do different things. I know that they will keep coming back to Poo and Geet."
Kareena also looked back at starring in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Othello, "I’ve done quite a few intense roles but you all remember only Poo and Geet. I feel very angry about it. Like, Omkara was also intense."
The Bollywood’s diva was recently spotted in Mumbai at the trailer launch event of her OTT debut Jaane Jaan, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
Speaking about her OTT debut she remarked, "I am more nervous than I was 20 years ago for the first time. Watching the promo so closely on TV screens, people would be watching me so closely on their phones."
"We have all worked very hard. Every actor says that but Sujoy has made a fantastic film. We have been trying to work together for over a decade."
Jaane Jaan is an adaptation of the 2005 Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X, which will star Kareena Kapoor, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat.
