‘Aquaman 2’ trailer: Nicole Kidman steals spotlight from Amber Heard, leaves fans curious
'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' will be released in theaters on Dec. 20, 2023

The highly anticipated trailer of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom become a hot topic of discussion since its release on Thursday (Sept. 14).
The sequel to the 2018 hit film will bring back Jason Momoa in his titular role as DC’s aquatic superhero. In addition to Momoa, Amber Heard and Nicole Kidman were also seen reprising their roles from the original film.
However, fans were left stunned as the Eyes Wide Shut actress, 56, grabbed attention in a few glimpses of the trailer, leaving Heard completely out of sight.
The Rum Diary actress’ fans were shocked after watching the trailer as she appears briefly in the trailer while Nicole was seen taking major screen time.
Heard, who will be seen on big screen following her bombshell trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp, had previously claimed that her role was reduced in the upcoming sequel due to bad press she faced during the trial.
The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan, however, debunked Heard’s claims, saying that Aquaman 2 was never about her character.
Wan, on the other hand, insisted that while the first installment of the film was based on Arthur (Momoa’s character) and Meera (Heard’s character) journey together, the second part is focused on Aquaman and his half-brother Orm (played by Patrick Wilson).
“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera's journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm.”
Wan added, “So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie.”
Nicole Kidman’s prominent screen time grabbed attention in the new trailer of the movie despite the director’s remarks that it is about Arthur and Orm’s characters.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released in theaters on Dec. 20, 2023.
