Jenni Hermoso, the Spanish soccer player, has issued an intense reaction to her exclusion from Spain’s Soccer Team roaster for upcoming matches with Sweden and Switzerland.

The 33-year-old has alleged that the Spanish federation engaged in “intimidation and threats” when world champion players were summoned to join the national team against their wishes.

When justifying the omission of Spain's record-breaking top scorer, the newly appointed coach Montse Tome stated that it was the "best way to protect her," as reported by USA Today.

Hermoso took to her X (previously Twitter) and expressed her discontentment over the issue and kicked off the statement with, “Protect me from what?"

She further stated, “Let's be clear: a claim was made today stating that the environment within the federation would be safe for my colleagues to rejoin yet at the same press conference it was announced that they were not calling me as a means to protect me."

The striker went on to say, “Protect me from what? And from whom? We have been searching for weeks - months, even - for protection from the RFEF that never came."

"The people who now ask us to trust them are the same ones who today disclosed the list of players who have asked NOT to be called up," Hermoso continued.

In her statement, Hermoso claimed her teammates believed that not calling all of them to practice was a means to "intimidate" them.

Hermoso also noted, "The players are certain that this is yet another strategy of division and manipulation to intimidate and threaten us with legal repercussions and economic sanctions.”

She added, "It is yet more irrefutable proof that shows that even today nothing has changed."

Hermosa concluded her statement by expressing her complete solidarity with her fellow teammates who found themselves compelled to respond to yet another regrettable situation stemming from the individuals making choices within the RFEF.

It is pertinent to know that the controversy ignited after Luis Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the lips following Spain's 1-0 victory over England in August.

Under immense pressure, Rubiales resigned from his role as president, and the new coach, Tomse, made the decision to exclude Hermoso from the squad in order to provide her with "protection."
