Kourtney Kardashian finds herself embroiled in controversy as Malibu's Mayor, Bruce Silverstein, accused that her team used deception to secure a permit for a large-scale event in the city.
The controversy centers on a permit application filed by Kardashian's event planner, which purported to be for a 'baby shower.'
In the application, they requested an "Emergency Expedited Permit for Large Event" at a single-family house.
This request was driven by concerns over parking logistics and the fact that the house was rented for the event rather than owned by Kardashian herself.
However, Mayor Silverstein claims that the event was never intended to be a baby shower.
Instead, it allegedly served as a promotional gathering for Kardashian's wellness brand, Poosh.
Despite the permit application stating that only 94 guests would attend the baby shower, an estimated 600 guests showed up for the Poosh event.
Mayor Silverstein expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, criticizing the city's perceived prioritization of celebrities and the affluent over its residents.
He contended that city staff had favored Kardashian by granting the permit for an event held in a private neighborhood.
The Mayor further highlighted the conflicting representations of the event, with one version stating it was a baby shower hosted by the property owner and the other suggesting it was an "influencer event" rented for the occasion.
Moreover, the Mayor revealed that none of the Kardashian family members attended the event, characterizing it as a purely commercial promotion.
In response to the situation, Mayor Silverstein has called for an internal investigation to ascertain whether any City employees were involved in or complicit in the alleged misrepresentation.
A City Council meeting is scheduled to address these concerns on Monday.
