British football legend David Beckham will be giving fans a rare peek into his life in the upcoming Netflix documentary Beckham.
Ahead of the release of Beckham – which is scheduled to stream on Netflix on October 4 – the director Fisher Steven has admitted it was 'unpleasant' for him to ask David and Victoria about their marriage 'difficulties'.
For the unversed, the former Spice Girls alum, 49, and the former Manchester United star, 48, have been married for 24 years since first meeting in 1997.
In the upcoming four-part tell-all documentary, the pair has shared insights into their highly publicized relationship, including the difficult parts of their marriage and 'rumoured infidelity scandals'.
Stevens revealed, “It wasn't pleasant, but we got into it.” Speaking to The Sunday Times, he said, “For me, I approached it as, "How did your marriage stay together?" and you'll see how he responds.
“I talked with both of them about the difficulties they went through.”
Furthermore, producer John Battsek added, “they were both signed up to telling us whatever we wanted to know. I'm sure you'll say, "Of course you would say that." But they were. There was no, "You will not ask that or do that."
“Fisher and I thought that might be the case, but we were clear from the start that we would only do this if we could go in any direction we wanted. And we did.”
David and Victoria Beckham relationship:
In the teaser of the highly anticipated documentary, Victoria and David lift the lid on their first attraction to one another back when they met for the first time at a charity football match in 1997.
The posh fashion designer said, “The fact I went to the games really was to - some might say I stalked him, I would say see him.”
“When I saw him in the footballers' lounge, all the other footballers were at the bar, and he was standing and talking to his parents, and I'm very close to my family, and I loved that side to him.”
David simply said of their first meeting, “I just fancied her.” Victoria also gushed, “I just fancied him, it was as simple as that.”
David and Victoria Beckham share four children - sons Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and a daughter Harper, 12.
