Netflix series 'Wednesday' star Jenna Ortega reflects on her Disney career
'Wednesday' star Jenna Ortega is slated to take on the role of Lydia's offspring in Warner Bros' follow-up to 'Beetlejuice'
Jenna Ortega reflected on her Disney career prior to her blockbuster hit Netflix series Wednesday.
During her journey through the Disney Channel and her pursuit of a breakthrough in Hollywood, Jenna Ortega encountered some obstacles.
In a recent interview, she shared her enthusiasm for a family-oriented comedy film, which, unfortunately, ended up not coming to fruition.
The Scream starlet revealed, ”I was up for a role in a family adventure comedy, with two young actors who are huge stars. (…) I did a reading with the main actor, the chemistry seemed to be there.”
She went on to say, “Despite everything, in the end, it didn’t happen. How I cried when I heard the news!… When I heard the news, I thought, there you go, another door slammed in my face.”
But, this opened up the door for her to look at other roles in Hollywood, including those that she has now become synonymous with.
“I knew I could play more adult and serious roles when I was ready, and in fact, I didn’t have to wait very long for the opportunity to present itself. (…) it is God who decides the right time,” she said.
The Fallout star further added, “….I know you just have to take risks and see what happens.”
When it comes to collaborating with Tim Burton, Ortega is slated to take on the role of Lydia's offspring in Warner Bros' follow-up to Beetlejuice.
The movie is anticipated to hit theaters in 2024, but the current SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have, interestingly, also impacted Ortega's capacity to portray Wednesday Addams this Halloween season, might potentially influence the release date as things progress.
