Mahira Khan appeared to be preparing for a return to the Bollywood industry, as reports indicate that she has joined the cast of the much-anticipated Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, marking her debut in the industry.

As reported by News18 and Free Press Journal, after the Bombay High Court's verdict to revoke the ban on Pakistani artists, the Razia starlet is reportedly contemplating a significant role alongside Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in the sequel to the highly successful film Lucifer.

Allegedly, she is set to play the female lead alongside Mohanlal in the second instalment of the Lucifer trilogy, a sequel to the action-thriller with the same title directed and written by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and penned by Murali Gopy.

In addition to these two, the cast will feature Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran reprising their roles from the preceding film.

In a recent interview with a regional network, the Bin Roye starlet shared her appreciation for Malayalam cinema, urging her friends and followers to delve into the rich offerings of the industry.

She also commended the storytelling, acting, and production standards of Malayalam films, expressing a keen interest in collaborating within the industry.

In the interview, the Humsafar actor explicitly specified her comments were directed towards Malayalam cinema, distinguishing it from Tamil or Telugu films.

However, this news was followed by a Bombay High Court order that has recently rejected a plea seeking to prohibit Pakistani artists from engaging in work or performances in India, as per reports from Indian media.
