'The Late Show' extends break as Stephen Colbert continues to 'rest' amid health crisis
'The Late Show' host Stephen Colbert announced cancellation on November 28, 2023 appendix ruptured
The Late Show was cancelled for the second week as the host, Stephen Colbert continues to rest while recovering from the damaged appendix.
As reported by PEOPLE, the late night TV show will remain on a break until Colbert heals from the medical complication.
The American comedian took to his official Instagram account to share and update regarding his health and recovery, noting, “I’m listening to my doctors and continuing to rest and heal. Thank you for all your well wishes and I’ll see you soon. – Stephen”
It was revealed by Stephen on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 that his appendix had ruptured.
Colbert uploaded a picture of his message on Threads through a separate post on Instagram where he wrote in the caption, “Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week. I’m sure you’re thinking, “Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?” Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me.”
“Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas,” the TV show host jokingly continued.
On Monday, CBS released a schedule of episodes that would be repeated in the same time slot as the show.
Deadline reported that the episodes featuring, Nicki Minaj, Jason Isbell, Sarah Paulson Rep. Liz and Sara Bareilles were previously scheduled.
However, this week’s repeated exclusives will feature Willie Nelson, Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, Kerry Washington and more.
