'The Muziris Empire' gears up for film adaptation: 'Da Vinci Code of India'

The Muziris Empire, an upcoming action adventure novel and movie adaptation can potentially become the Da Vinci Code of India.

As reported by Variety, Samir Gupta, the owner of India’s Impact Films told the outlet, “Stories centered around South Asian history and characters are just starting to hit the mainstream after the success of ‘RRR,’ and we are proud to bring ‘The Da Vinci Code’ of India to audiences around the world.”

Samir Gupta along with US Parmar Entertainment’s Daljit DJ Parmar and the filmmaker Mohit Ramchandani have already acquired the film adaptation rights to the 2024's upcoming novel.

They will be producing the film with an A-list writer on board to develop its screenplay, in order to achieve the goal of commencing the production in 2025.

Parmar's entertainment company also revealed a 100 million dollar, five-year, 10-picture production deal with Beacon Media that will kick off with a film starring Russell Peters.

Daljit DJ Parmar noted, “Growing up as a South Asian in Canada, I was taught the history of the West but not the history of my ancestors. The opportunity to share this history, wrapped in an edge-of-your-seat action adventure film, is a dream come true.”

The Muziris Empire is written by the UK author Hamish Morjaria and will be released by Pan Macmillan in summer 2024 as per their LinkedIn.
