Netflix gears for 'ONE PIECE' anime remake after success of 2023's live-action

Netflix has geared up to for the remake of the famous anime, ONE PIECE, titled The ONE PIECE, which will be produced by Wit Studio.

According to Anime Corner, the announcement was made at the end of the Jump Festa 2024, on December 17, 2023 as well as a post on X, formerly Twitter.

It stated that the adaptation of the anime series would begin from the East Blue Saga and would be commemorating 25 years of the anime.

ONE PIECE official YouTube channel uploaded a teaser that begins with some glimpses of Romance Dawn, the title of the first manga chapter as well as the first episode of the live-action series of the franchise.

Netflix took to their official X account to describe the upcoming project as, “Recreating the story of the original “ONE PIECE” manga, starting from the East Blue arc, “THE ONE PIECE” is coming to Netflix!"

Prior to the announcement, Wit Studio revealed that the anime by Toei Animation would get new opening and ending songs ahead of the Egghead Island arc, followed by the announcement of the project's voice-over artists.

About 'ONE PIECE':

ONE PIECE was originally a manga written by Eiichiro Oda and currently has 1101 chapters.

Its manga was first launched in July 1997 and has sold 500 million copies up till August 2022 with being the best-selling manga for 11 consecutive years, from 2008-2018.

Publication rights for the manga in English language have been acquired by VIZ Media.

ONE PIECE’s anime adaptation began in October 1999 and is one of the most famous animes of all time. It is being produced by Toei Animation and has released 1088 episodes.

'ONE PIECE' Plot:

The website, Crunchyroll streams the anime for viewers and describes the plot as, “Monkey. D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who’ll never give up until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece!”
