'The Duke of Hazzard' star John Schneider talks about his late wife

The Duke of Hazzard star John Schneider has talked about celebrating his first Christmas occasion since the death of his wife, Alicia Allain Schneider, who passed away from breast cancer at the age of 53.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Schneider shared that he will be celebrating Christmas with his late wife Alicia's parents and her daughter.

The Dukes actor also mentioned that that he was expecting that this Christmas festival would be a difficult time for him, despite having family support.

He said, "It's going to be rough, grief is a funny thing. Grief will sneak up on you and smack you in the back of the head, truly, when you least expect it. But usually right as you're having a great time."

 "It's almost like grief says, ‘No, no, no, no, no, you're not going to smile today, you're not going to laugh today,'" Schneider added.

The 63-year-old star further noted, "But, you know, the notion that grief will ever go away is silly. Grief will never go away, It's just something we learn to carry, and I'm learning, not a lesson I ever wanted, not a skill I ever wanted to acquire. But, you know, here it is, so I'm making the best of it," 

However, Schneider also mentioned that it's too early to decide which traditions to continue without his late wife, who died on February 21, 2023.

 Schneider have four children, including a  daughter, Karis Schneider, whom he shares with his ex-wife Elly Castle.

The To Die For actor and Castle also have other daughters Mandy and Leah together, and a son named Chasen Schneider who are from  from Castle's previous relationship.
