'The Last of Us' rules 2023 Creative Arts Emmy Awards with most wins

The Last of Us took the 71st Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards by storm, scoring the most wins of the first night of the ceremony, on January 6, 2024.

As reported by Variety, The Last of Us was followed by The White Lotus, The Bear and Beef, that made their spaces by also winning awards on Saturday night.

HBO’s The Last of Us dominated the award show with eight wins while FX’s The Bear, Netflix’s Wednesday and HBO’s The White Lotus took home four awards, each.

Netflix’s Beef won three trophies on the first night of the two-night Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The Last of Us won awards for guest actor and actress in a drama series for performances by Nick Offerman and Storm Reid, respectively.

The HBO 2023 series also won six more trophies for the categories of visual effects, picture editing, sound editing and others.

As Nick Offerman was called on stage to receive his award for guest actor in a drama series, in his acceptance speech, he said, “Fortune presents gifts not according to the book.”

Offerman also expressed his utmost gratitude to his "magnificent" partner, Megan Mullally.

Storm Reid accepted her award for guest actress exclaiming, "I'm such a mess!"

"This is proof you can do anything. I’m just a young girl from Atlanta, Georgia," she continued.

"I didn't really know what I was getting into when I signed on to be Riley," she told the press afterward. "I think my role in The Last of Us reinforced my love and passion to tell meaningful stories and representation for ... young women, young queer black women," Reid said in an interview to the press after the award ceremony, reflecting on her role in The Last of Us.
