Prince William and Princess Kate reportedly found themselves in a situation described as "desperate," aiming to facilitate the eviction of Prince Andrew from the Royal Lodge after the Epstein case controversy.

According to a reliable insider speaking to Express.co.uk, the Prince and Princess of Wales  would "welcome and support" the King's choice to remove Andrew from Royal Lodge, as they have been considering the property for an extended period.

“It’s no secret that William and Kate have been trying to secure Royal Lodge for their family. They are in desperate need of a larger property to accommodate their household,” the source said.

The source added, “The wheels finally seem to be in motion to remove Andrew from the property which William and Kate welcome and support wholeheartedly.”

It is also revealed by insider that efforts to remove Andrew from Royal Lodge were initiated last year when he was allocated Frogmore Cottage in line with his "downgraded" royal position.

Nevertheless,  the disgraced royal  declined to relocate to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's former residence, citing it as "too small" for his stature.

“The Palace originally wanted Andrew out of Royal Lodge so that the property could be renovated and prepared for new lodgers,” a source said last year.

The source shared, “However, Andrew was having none of it and is adamant that he will see out the end of his lease at Royal Lodge.”

For the unversed, in August 2003, Prince Andrew was granted a 75-year lease for Royal Lodge, accompanied by a lump sum payment of £1 million to the Crown Estate for its acquisition.

Last year, details emerged regarding how the Duke of York's provisions were outlined in Queen Elizabeth's will.
