Dan Levy shares 'rage' story behind interviewing Adele
Dan Levy disclosed his reaction when he failed to persuade producers to allow Adele to appear on the show
Dan Levy opened up about a time when early in Adele's career, MTV bosses initially hesitated to let him interview the burgeoning star.
While conversing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Haunted Mansion actor shared an anecdote about encountering the Hello crooner during his time in the U.K. back in 2008 when she was promoting her album 19.
After securing a position at MTV Canada upon returning, Levy was determined to feature Adele on his show, MTV Live, when he learned about her Canadian tour.
"I said to my producers, 'You absolutely have to get this girl on the show. We have to talk to her and she has to preform,' " Levy, 40, recalled.
He added, "And my bosses at the time were like, 'It's not Sum41, so no.' "
However, he refused to acknowledge or accept that response."There was a rage in my eye," the Good Chief star remembered how he responded to their denial.
"It was early days, I could have quit," Levy mentioned that, however, he managed to persuade them to allow Adele to appear on the show.
Levy reminisced, recounting her appearance in the cozy confines of MTV Live's intimate studio, "You could hear a pin drop," adding, "She has a power that can stop a room. ... It was unbelievable."

The Schitt's Creek actor shared with Jimmy Fallon that he had never disclosed the story to Adele. However, during one of her live performances in Las Vegas, "She did come over and sort of grabbed my hand and gave me a wink. So, I don't know, maybe she did remember."
He also informed PEOPLE about a particularly challenging experience, the occasion when he had to turn down a part as one of the Kens in Greta Gerwig's successful film Barbie.
“Logistically [I] could not make it work despite desperately trying to," he said. "So, yeah, I guess I was technically unavailable to do that."
"Does it haunt me when I sleep at night? Sometimes. It's not like it isn't, like, one of the biggest movies of all time. That was a tough, that was a tough day," he admitted.
Levy called Gerwig "one of the great, young auteurs of our time" adding, "I would have loved to play in her world."
